This S&W AUTO model would be what? File name is 4505, but I quite different.

It is a Tanaka airsoft replica not a real gun. I imagine that the frame is shared between the regular M4505 replica and this made up gun, hence why the markings are wrong. If you wanted to give it a number the closest match would be a 4565 (.45, non standard length, carbon steel frame and slide), but it has the shaved hammer which is normally only on DAO or decocker guns and the 6900 series. However (if it is actually based on a real gun) then it could be one of the rare slide rather than frame mounted decocker versions, which would make it a 4575. --commando552 (talk) 08:24, 23 June 2013 (EDT)

.22LR Models 422/622/2206

Got a few questions that I hope one of you Smith & Wesson aficionados can help me with. In the 1992 movie Hard Hunted I identified a gun as Smith & Wesson 2206, see below for screenshots. When putting together a gun page, I noticed here’s a whole bunch of nearly identical .22LR models of which the following is I think a correct summary.

First model was blued Model 422 (from 1987), followed by Model 622 in stainless look (from 1989) and from 1990 onwards the all-stainless Model 2206. Finally, in 1991 two concealed carry models with 2” barrel were introduced (stainless Model 2213 and blued Model 2214) before production stopped in 1996 (1997 for Models 2213/14)

1. Is my above understanding of the history of this gun correct and complete?
2. What Model is most likely to be used in the movie; 622 or 2206?
3. What would be the best name for a gun page? Model 422/622/2206 series?

Firstly, just a note about the frame materials on these. On the 422 and 622 the frame is alloy and the slides are blued carbon steel and stainless steel respectively. On the 2206 both the frame and slide are made of stainless steel which makes it noticeably heavier, but can be visually distinguished by the fact that it has all one finish on both the frame and slide. On the earlier alloy framed 622 there is a noticeable difference between the frame/barrel and the slide. In the caps above you can see that it has a two toned finish which would point to it being a 622 (with a 6" barrel). Also backing this up, I believe that on the 2206 the front sight was a seperate piece pinned onto the barrel whereas on the 622 it was built into the barrel, which appears to be the case here. As for what to call the page, with S&Ws we tend to list the 2nd gen models on their own pages and the 3rd gens would be on a "2200 series" page. --commando552 (talk) 20:17, 31 January 2015 (EST)
