:Source is “Introduction to Rifles, Handguns, and Machine Guns: A Thorough Study of Japanese Small Arms”(小銃・拳銃・機関銃入門―日本の小火器徹底研究) by Sayama Jiro(佐山二郞) Page 196-207. On page 204 the gun in question is specifically called "乙号" which translates to "B Mark" (Japanese writes these in a different order than English, for example Type 99 is "九九式" "9 9 Type"). The pistol sword distinction should be made because there was a Mark B pistol sword before the Mark B pistol with sword, that design used a modified Type B small (Baby Nambu) pistol, so for avoiding confusion and because the author described it as such.
