About
C.G. Haenel is a German weapons manufacturer located in Suhl. It started producing bicycles and firearms in 1840. Among the notorious products are the Aydt target rifle, and war time production during such as the Reichsrevolver M1879 and the Gewehr 98. After WW2, the company ended up in the Soviet sector of Germany, which later became East Germany and the company focused on air rifle. More recently however, the company technically won the Bundeswehr competition in 2019 to replace the G36 with their submission being MK-556 rifle, albeit due legal issues with Magpul and Heckler & Koch they had to withdrew their submission.
