Though hard to tell, the weapon appears to have a large grip as well as the frame bulge, indicating a high-capacity S&W auto. The gun was previously listed as a Smith & Wesson 5904, which is not possible since the movie was released in 1986, while the 5904 and most other '3rd Generation' S&W autos were made in 1989 and later.
