Defiance is an upcoming science fiction television set on Earth some time after a war with a group of aliens known as the Votans. After a ceasefire is declared after many years of fighting, the majority of organised government on both sides has been destroyed leading to many new factions and militias being created who pursue their own interests. The story focuses on a town known as "Defience" which stands in the ruins of St. Louis, in which both human and Votan survivors live together.

The series is the first of its kind, in that it is being produced in concert with a massively multiplayer online game by Trion Worlds. Events that occur in one will effect the other, and characters will transfer back and forth between the game and television series.

Handguns

Unidentified Futuristic Pistol

An unidentified futuristic pistol is used by the main character of the series, Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler). The weapon appears to be based on an actual firearm, with cases being ejected when it is fired and the back portion of the weapon moving back and forth due to a slide moving underneath. As the whole weapon is covered with a futuristic shell, it is not possible to identify what the real world weapon underneath is.

Note that the rear portion of the pistol has moved backwards indicating that there is a functional slide underneath, and an empty case can be seen ejecting.
