Copper Angel (Medny angel) (1984)

Copper Angel (Medny angel) is a 1984 Soviet adventure movie by Veniamyn Dorman. The plot of the movie covers the adventures of the international geological expedition in one of the Latin American countries.

Sturmgewehr 44 (modified to resemble M16)

One of the weapons used both by police and gangsters in the movie are Sturmgewehr 44 automatic rifles, visually modified with the addition of a carrying handle, a modified front sight and shorter magazines to resemble the M16 rifle.

• Soviet cinema factories lacked modern Western weapon so in movies where the plot take place in Western countries most weapons were of the WW2 era, either captured from the Germans or lend-leased from the UK and US. That's why Sturmgewehr 44, visually modified to resemble M16, are so widely in Soviet action movies of 1970s-80s (including Pirates of the XXth Century (Piraty XX veka), Solo Voyage, Gangsters in the Ocean (Gangstery v okeane), Mirage (Mirazh), Incident at Map Grid 36-80 (Sluchay v kvadrate 36-80) and others).
