Medal of Honor: Underground
Nice, but where's the trigger? This article or section is incomplete. You can help IMFDB by expanding it. |
Medal of Honor: Underground is the 2000 prequel video game for the Playstation. It follows the exploits of female French Resistance fighter Manon Baptiste (who was featured in the original Medal of Honor) during the early years of World War II in Europe.
The following weapons appear in the video game Medal of Honor: Underground:
Handguns
Walther P38
A Walther P38 is the first weapon the player acquires. It is only obtainable in Occupied! (Mission 1). Throughout the game, it is seen in the hands of German officers and Vichy French Milice units.
Mauser C96
A Mauser C96 is seen in Mission Art for Occupied! (Mission 1). The weapon, however, never appears in the game. The C96 was intended to be in the game as the first weapon in Mission 1, but was then replaced by the recycled Walther P38 from the first game.
High Standard HDM
A suppressed High Standard HDM is the standard weapon given during the undercover spy missions: Hunting The Desert Fox (Mission 2) and Undercover In Crete (Mission 3). Although silent, enemies will most likely still hear it from afar. The HDM is very powerful.
M1911A1
Once working with the American OSS, the M1911A1 is the sidearm in Last Rites at Monte Cassino (Mission 5).
SMGs
Sten Mark II
The first SMG to appear in the game is the Sten MKII. It is first acquired in Level 2 of Occupied! (Mission 1) but comes back in Last Rites at Monte Cassino (Mission 5). The Sten is incorrectly used by German soldiers only when the player is armed with it. This was likely due to programing limitations; only being able to have one SMG model in a level. The Mission Briefing tries to correct this by claiming the Germans are armed with MP 3008's, a cheap German copy of the Sten. However, the MP 3008 wasn't developed until 1945. The levels which feature the Sten take place in 1942 and 1944. In terms of the first game, the Sten replaces the Thompson M1A1. It holds 32 rounds and has a much higher rate of fire than the actual Sten.
MP40
The MP40 is seen numerously throughout the game. It is mainly seen in the hands of Germans, but is briefly used by some Vichy French Milice units in Level 1 of Occupied! (Mission 1). It is used in Hunting the Desert Fox (Mission 2), Undercover in Crete (Mission 3), and A Mittelwerk Saboteur (Mission 6). It uses the same model from the first game, but has a darker tone to it, and holds 32 rounds.
Rifles
Gewehr 43
A scoped Gewehr 43 is the only rifle usable in the game. It is first acquired off enemy snipers in Wewelsburg: Dark Camelot (Mission 4) and later comes back in Liberation! (Mission 7). It is most effective against enemy knights (armed with swords and shields) in Level 2 of Wewelsburg: Dark Camelot. It holds 5 rounds and despite being semiautomatic, has a slow rate of fire. In terms of the first game, it replaces the Springfield M1903 as a sniping weapon. In Multiplayer, its icon is incorrectly the Springfield.
Karabiner 98K
The Karabiner 98k is used by German troops throughout the game. The player cannot use it.
M1 Garand
The M1 Garand is only available in Multiplayer.
STG 44
The Sturmgewehr 44 is the game's only assault rifle. It is first encountered in the hands of SS soldiers in the "Dark Camelot" chapter. The weapon itself is a tad inaccurate in-game. Replaced by the BAR in the bonus mission, and referred to as a Sub-Machine Gun in game.
Browning Automatic Rifle
The Browning Automatic Rifle is available in the bonus mission.
Other Weapons
Winchester Model 12 Riot Shotgun
Referred to as the "W12 Riot Shotgun" in mission debriefings, the Winchester Model 1912 is the primary weapon for the Middelwerk Saboteur Chapter, and the Bonus Mission. In Multiplayer, its icon is (incorrectly) the Winchester M1897.
Big Joe 5 Crossbow
A crossbow developed by the OSS for assassinations at 200 yards or less. In the game, it is an instant kill weapon, even capable of making a double or triple kill if enemies are stacked up for such a shot. However, it takes an insanely long time to reload.
Explosives
Panzerfaust
The game's "rocket launcher" is the Panzerfaust, in the game it takes 3 to 4 shots to destroy a tank. It is first encountered in the first chapter of the game, anachronistically, which takes place in 1940.
Bazooka
The player can also use the M1 Rocket Launcher "Bazooka", but it is only available in multiplayer mode.
Model 24 Stielhandgranate "Potato Masher" Stick grenade
The game's main grenade is the Model 24 Stielhandgranate. They are somewhat unreliable since enemies can easily kick them away unless the player hits said enemy with a grenade, in which case they will explode on contact.
Machine Guns
MG42
At some points the player will find mounted MG42s with a fairly fast firing rate and unlimited ammo.
Hotchkiss Gun
A Hotchkiss gun is seen in the third level of the "Occupation" chapter and later in the final level in the "Hunting the Desert Fox" chapter, where it can destroy Panzer IIIs with ease.
