Conversion of model 1860 Army for metallic cartridges?

John Russell carries a gun that looks like a conversion of model 1860 Army to shoot metallic cartridges, although it could also be a Colt model 1871-72 Open Top Model (note the extractor) (a similar gun can be seen in ‘’The Outlaw Josey Wales’’

Remington model 1858

Clint Eastwood uses this “cap and ball” revolver. He carries pre-loaded cylinders in belt pouches, just like modern speedloaders. Note, however, that the cylinders are loaded with metallic cartridges: in most movies, muzzleloader guns are modified to use blanks, which are more safe and convenient.
