"Starship Trooper" Morita Rifle Series

The Morita Mk I Rifle and it's variants is a series of "fictional weapons" created for the movie Starship Troopers. For references: all of these are based on the french "F.A.M.A.S." séries.

Morita Mk I Rifle

The Morita rifle is used by Rico and all the other Mobile Infantry soldiers with the Morita Carbine being carried by fleet pilots and officers. The weapons themselves are built around the Ruger Mini-14/AC-556 rifles with with an underslung Ithaca 37 shotgun doubling as a grenade launcher. Both the Morita rifle and carbine utilize a modified Muzzelite MZ-14 bullpup stock to house the Ruger Mini-14/AC-556 rifles and the Ithaca 37 shotguns (for the Morita rifle only).

Watching the movie again, the Ithaca's use as an underbarrel weapon is as a shotgun and not a grenade launcher as in several scenes with Rico and his team shooting and pumping the action and the sound of shotgun fire. Excalibur01 20:21, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Morita Mk I Carbine

A shorter barreled version of the Morita Rifle was issued to Federation Pilots and Senior NCOs of the Mobile Infantry. The weapon itself is sometimes referred to as the "Hero Carbine" since, largely it is seen being used by the likes of Rico, Rasczak or Zander.

Morita Scoped Sniper Rifle

Basically a Morita Rifle with a large multi-task Scope. The Morita Scoped Rifle is used by Pvt. Watkins on Planet P. It is the same basic weapon with the addition of an advanced scope capable of tracking and zooming in on a target.
