About
China South Industries Group
The China South Industries Group Corporation Limited (CSGC for short), known within China as China Ordnance Equipment Group Corporation (Chinese: 中国兵器装备集团公司), is a Chinese state-owned industrial conglomerate involved in the production of military armaments. CSGC is China's most notable small arms manufacturer, with its subsidiaries designing and manufacturing most of the small arms in service in the People's Liberation Army.
There are four major notable CSGC subsidiaries:
Chongqing Jianshe Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. (Chinese: 重庆建设工业(集团)有限责任公司), designer and manufacturer of QBZ-95, QBZ-03, Type 81, QCW-05. (Formerly Factory 296)
Chongqing Changfeng Machinery Co. Ltd. (provisional translation; Chinese: 重庆长风机器有限责任公司), designer of QSZ-92. Merged into Jianshe since 2014
Sichuan Huaqing Machinery Co. Ltd (Chinese: 四川华庆机械有限责任公司) (Formerly Factory 216), manufacturer of QJB-95, QJZ-89, W-85 heavy machine gun; also manufactures ZLS-05
Yunnan Xiyi Industry Co Ltd (Chinese: 云南西仪工业股份有限公司) (Formerly Factory 356), manufacturer of Type 67 machine gun, QJY-88
China Ordnance Industries No. 208 Research Institute (Chinese: 中国兵器工业第208研究所), the designer of QBZ-95 and CS/LR3. Despite its name, it is not a subsidiary of Norinco Group; the name appears to be a holdover from the names of earlier Chinese ordnance industry administration institutions.
