In this film, Hoffman sets a series of traps for an insurance executive, William Easton, and his employees. Meanwhile, the FBI trails Peter Strahm, now suspected of being Jigsaw's last accomplice, and Hoffman is drawn into motion to protect his secret identity. A sequel, titled Saw VII 3D: The Final Chapter, was released in 2010.

Handguns
Glock 17
After a fight with Strahm (Scott Patterson) at the end of Saw V, Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) leaves for his hideout. In his holster is a Glock 17. It can also be seen being carried by Agent Erickson (Mark Rolston) and an unnamed police officer. Upon hearing a disturbance in his office building late at night and seeing the shadow of a man with a gun, William (Peter Outerbridge) retrieves a Glock pistol from a drawer and uses it to shoot the man, which turns out to be a security guard, just before he is ambushed from behind by the real assailant.
Glock 19
Agent Perez (Athena Karkanis) continues to use her Glock 19 throughout the film. At first, it is seen in her holster at the police station and after they discover Hoffman is behind the killings, Perez tries to attack him with the gun, but doesn't have time. Hoffmann (Costas Mandylor) leaves Strahm's fingerprints on Perez’s pistol after the police killings.
Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92FS is briefly seen in a archive footage from Saw III, when Jeff (Angus Macfadyen) shoots and kills Amanda.
Smith & Wesson 5946
In archive footage from the Saw III, Eric Matthews' old duty sidearm, the Smith & Wesson 5946, is once again briefly seen in the hands of Amanda (Shawnee Smith). In the post-credits scene, she holds a pistol during a checking Corbett Denlon's (Niamh Wilson) health while locked in a room.
Shotguns
Remington 870 Police Magnum
A Remington 870 two-shot extension Express model is rigged up in a trap in the scene where William (Peter Outerbridge) must select from whom on a wheel of six people dies- four of the six must die. As the wheel turns, William decides who lives or dies by either enduring pain himself to save two of his choice or not doing anything for the other four. When the person stops in front of the shotgun and William chooses to not do anything, the mechanism the shotgun is rigged to cycles the action and then fires, killing them.
12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun
In a flashback, when Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), Amanda (Shawnee Smith), and Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) prepare "The Rack" trap for Timothy Young (Mpho Koaho) from the third movie, John holds the 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun that will later be installed in glass box and kills Judge Halden (Barry Flatman). Another (or maybe the same) shotgun is briefly seen in a archive footage from Saw V, while the detective Hoffman tries to remove The Reverse Beartrap 2.0 at the end of the film.
Others
Billy the Puppet Gun
In archive footage from the Saw IV, the cannon hidden in the Billy's head shoots at Agent Perez (Athena Karkanis) again, when it is revealed that Perez's death was faked.
