The Long Good Friday is a 1980 British gangster film directed by John Mackenzie, starring Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren, with Bryan Marshall and Derek Thompson. Not only was it a breakthrough role for Bob Hoskins, it featured many young actors who went onto greater fame, such as Pierce Brosnan, Daragh O'Malley, Dexter Fletcher and Kevin McNally. The film was actually finished a year before it was released, as rights issues held it up. It was voted #21 on the British Film Institute's top 100 British films of the 20th century.
