Shaft is the 2019 action feature continuation of the Shaft film series that began with the original 1971 film that starred Richard Roundtree. Samuel L. Jackson returns from the 2000 film as John Shaft II, who is reunited with his estranged son JJ (Jessie T. Usher). The film was directed by Tim Story and Richard Roundtree also reprises his role as the original John Shaft.
