Dead Bang is a 1989 thriller starring Don Johnson as Jerry Beck, a homicide detective with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department who while investigating the murder of a fellow deputy uncovers a conspiracy involving white supremacists. The film was directed by John Frankenheimer and was inspired by an actual case.
The following weapons were used in the film Dead Bang:
Pistols
Browning Hi-Power
The Browning Hi-Power is the preferred weapon of multiple characters in the film.
Beretta 92FS
In what appears to be a continuity error, Bobby switches to a Beretta 92FS during a gun fight in the street instead of the Browning Hi-Power he was using earlier.
Revolvers
Colt Python with 6" Barrel
LA Sheriff's Department Homicide investigator Jerry Beck (Don Johnson) carries a Colt Python with 6" Barrel with Pachmayr rubber grips as his sidearm.
Smith & Wesson Model 13
FBI Special Agent Arthur Kressler (William Forsythe) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 13 with a 3" Barrel. The particular S&W was the standard issue for F.B.I. agents in the late eighties.
Smith & Wesson Model 15
The female OKCPD officer (Trudy Forbes) draws a Smith & Wesson Model 15 on Beck after the gunfight in the street.
Smith & Wesson Model 10
The Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolver is the sidearm carried by Chief Hillard (Brad Sullivan) and the rest of his deputies.
Smith & Wesson Model 28
What appears to be the Smith & Wesson Model 28 revolver is carried by LAPD officers who confront Beck and a suspect after a chase.
Smith & Wesson Model 686
Chief Dixon (Tim Reid) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 686 revolver as his sidearm.
Submachine Guns
Cobray M11/9
Jerry Beck (Don Johnson) carries a Cobray M11/9 SMG at the conclusion of the film.
MAC-10
The MAC-10 is primarily used by Bobby Burns (Frank Military), but also by other members of his group during the film.
Micro Uzi
The Micro Uzi is used by Sleepy (Mickey Jones) as well as other members of Burns' gang.
Uzi
A full-sized Uzi is only seen when FBI Agent Kressler carries it during the assault on the cave complex.
Rifles/Carbines
Colt Model 653
Several of Chief Dixon's deputies carry 14" barreled AR15 carbines, most likely the Colt Model 653. The carbine is also held by Chief Dixon (Tim Reid).
M16A1
An M16A1 rifle is briefly used by Burns' gang.
AK-47
Guards at the Aryan compound all carry full stock AK47 rifles. They don't have the Chinese AK hoods so they are likely true AK47s or accurate clones.
Norinco Type 56-1
Sleepy (Mickey Jones) also uses a Norinco Type 56-1 Underfolder AK during the fight at the abandoned house.
Steyr AUG
The Steyr AUG rifle is only seen on a table full of weapons at the press briefing.
Winchester Model 70
Bobby Burns (Frank Military) uses what appears to be a Winchester Model 70 rifle to scope Beck while at the compound. Similar rifles are used by Chief Dixon's deputies later during a raid.
Shotguns
Ithaca Model 37
An Ithaca 37 is seen mounted in the squad car driven by Chief Hillard (Brad Sullivan) and later used by Jerry Beck (Don Johnson) at the gunfight at the abandoned house.
Other
Gun Racks
When he travels to Bogan, Oklahoma, Beck goes to the Sheriff's office, where Chief Elton Tremmel (William Traylor) has a variety of weapons hanging on the wall or in his gun cabinet (makes and models to be determined).
Browning M1919A4 (Flash Gun Mockup)
During an escape, Burns (Frank Military) fires what appears to be a Browning M1919A4 machine gun from the back of a station wagon. In reality, this is an acetylene-firing 'fake' M1919-style replica.
Special
Trivia
Seen in a brief role as a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy who talks to Beck at the murder scene is a young Garwin Sanford, who later would be known for his role as Narim (from the Tollan people) in the series Stargate: SG1.
