Modified Saiga-12 Shotgun

The "White Whale" weapon featured throughout the film is a modified Saiga 12 shotgun. Designed specifically for this movie and built by gunsmiths Larry Zanoff and the late Jim Boland, the weapon is mentioned to fire depleted uranium shells. Beretta 9000S

LAPD Det. Mitch Preston (Robert De Niro) is seen carrying a Beretta 9000S at the beginning of the film. He hides it in a large slush cup when he goes to a gun buy.
