The M17 Rifle Grenade is a fragmentation rifle grenade which is typically launched from an M7 Grenade Launcher attached to the muzzle of an M1 Garand. It uses the body of a Mk 2 Hand Grenade with the time fuse replaced with a tail section containing an impact fuse. It was replaced in service in 1944 by standard hand grenades fitted with the M7 Rifle Grenade Launcher series adapter.
