The 8.8 cm PaK 43 (full name "8,8 cm Panzerjägerkanone 43") was a German anti-tank gun developed in 1942 by Krupp and Rheinmetall and used during the Second World War. It is similar in outward appearance to its smaller predecessor, the 7.5 cm PaK 40. Rheinmetall, the competing company also designed a similar gun called the 8.8 cm PaK 43/41 (full name "8,8 cm Panzerjägerkanone 43/41"). The difference between the two is that the Rheinmetall version used a split trail carriage while the Krupp version used a cruciform mount.
