I Am A Hero (Japanese title: アイアムアヒーロー, Ai amu a hīrō) is a 2015 post-apocalyptic horror-comedy film starring Yo Oizumi as Hideo Suzuki, a struggling, directionless manga artist's assistant whose life is suddenly changed by the onset of a zombie apocalypse. Armed with only his sporting shotgun (one of the very few in Japan), he sets out to survive and redeem himself as the world deteriorates around him. The film is an adaptation of the 2009-2017 manga series of the same name by Kengo Hanazawa.
The following weapons were used in the film I Am A Hero:
Submachine Guns
Ingram MAC-11
An airsoft MAC-11 is used by the survivors at the Fuji Royal Outlet Park camp. It is later used by Hideo.
Rifles
Colt M4A1
An airsoft Colt M4A1 is also used by the survivors at the Fuji Royal Outlet Park camp.
Shotguns
Ruger Red Label
A 12 gauge Ruger Red Label is prominently used by Hideo Suzuki (Yo Oizumi) throughout the movie. This is notable difference from the original work, as Hideo is depicted using a Beretta 682 Gold E (and later, a Miroku MSS-20) in the manga. Due to privately owned firearms being extremely rare in Japan, the shotgun is seen as an item of extreme interest and importance by the other characters throughout the movie. Hideo originally owned the shotgun for recreational sporting, but the apocalypse has given him the opportunity to use it to shoot zombies and help others in need instead.
Other
Hideo's art
An over-under shotgun similar to the Red Label that Hideo uses is seen with a character in the art he draws.
Bulletin board
A picture of another over-under shotgun is seen pinned to a bulletin board above Hideo's desk.
Artists' references
Pictures of multiple firearms are seen pinned to a wall at the office Hideo works at.
