The Sicilian is the 1987 feature film adaptation of the eponymous novel by Mario Puzo, the author of The Godfather (Puzo included references to Michael Corleone and Clemenza in his novel, but these were omitted in the film due to rights issues). Directed by Michael Cimino, the film chronicles the life and death of "Sicilian Robin Hood" Salvatore Giuliano (Christopher Lambert), infamous outlaw and separatist of the late 1940s. This is a second movie about Giuliano; the previous one was filmed in Italy in 1961.
