Apocalypse Now

I'll check through this in more detail when I get home, but keep it to the talk page for now. Remember, Apocalypse Now is not stock footage, it is a movie. What matters is what would be available to the production, not what the US military would actually have access to at the time, since it is very well documented that the movie had no US military support whatsoever. Ok, to add: what the site is about is not what the weapon would be in the Vietnam War, it's what the weapon on the set is likely to have been. That's why we say M16 (SP1), since it isn't possible to tell if the upper is a transferrable ex-military fullauto acquired via law enforcement sales or a fullauto-converted SP1 upper. As I recall, we've been told by one of our guys (User:MoviePropMaster2008) who is an actual armourer (and assembled and photographed the gun that's pictured in that section, as well as many, many others on the site) that AR-15 pattern weapons are typically assembled as needed from uppers and lowers rather than stored whole; it seems more likely that the production simply didn't have enough A1-style uppers and had to make do with M16 / SP1-style ones with no forward assists than that these are late-model Air Force guns which were kept together the entire time between being bought and being used in the movie.
