I've been a gun owner since I was about 14 when my dad got me a Marlin 995 for Christmas, I don't think he knew the 10/22 was the basis, but they look pretty close. When I was old enough to drive, my God-Uncle introduced me to hand-gunning and I became a fanatic of the 1911. I bought my first SAR-1 when I was 19, after my first year at college and my first Handgun at 32 when I got back from Iraq; New York State pretty much denied me the right to own a handgun, so I gave up on the economy and joined the Army. Army showed me how to use a few types of weapon systems, but I only ever handled M16s and one M249 while working for headquarters, except for a year while I served as alternate armorer, when I accidentally found IMFDB. At the time, I was using my education benefits to study gunsmithing, and I wanted to learn everything I could about every type of firearm, from flintlocks to Howitzers. After 10 years of headquarters work, I switched jobs to power distribution and I expect I'll move further away fro US weapons as move deeper into electricity, so I'm planning to shoot and study as much as I can on my own.

The Primary reason I waited until now to start an account is because I know there are serious professional shooters, collectors, gunsmiths and movie watchers that work the website and I'm really just a sci-fi and action fan, but I saw one glaring omission in the "Transformers: The Last Knight" page, when one of the [former] TRF operators (the team leader I think) is clearly reloading some AK-type SBR (rocking the magazine back into the receiver at about 2:12:07) with a barrel mounted optic and designators, and no type of AK is mentioned in the Film's page.
