Torchwood (2006 - 2011)

Torchwood is a television spinoff of the popular Doctor Who series produced by the BBC. Following the adventures of Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and his team. Based in Cardiff they are a part of Torchwood, a secret agency set up by Queen Victoria in the Doctor Who Episode "Tooth and Claw". Their primary mission is to monitor a spacial rift in and around Cardiff, fighting supernatural monsters and aliens in order to protect mankind.

The following weapons were used in the television series Torchwood:

Compact M1911

Torchwood agents in the series are seen with compact M1911 pistols as their primary firearm. Yet, owing to the strict firearms controls in the UK and the reduced insurance cost during filming, modified Tokyo Marui Hi Capa 4.3 airsoft guns were used as stand-ins. Government operatives, UNIT soldiers and minor characters are also seen with the weapon.

Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) aims his service piece in the season 2 opener "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang". Aside from the under-barrel accessory, there is still a airsoft-use inner-barrel inside the barrel of the pistol.
Owen Harper (Burn Gorman) fires his pistol in "Sleeper", Season 2.
A suppressed version of the weapon can be seen in the Season 2 episode "Meat" and later in "Exit Wounds".
Gwen observes a government operative disguised as a paramedic, who has a pistol holstered.
Gwen puts down the pistols as she flees from sniper fire in the ambulance.

Sub-compact M1911

In the Miracle Day episode End Of The Road, corrupt CIA agents loyal to Section Chief Friedkin carry Baby Hi-Capa 3.8's as their weapons. These are likely stand ins for genuine sub-compact 1911 pistols.

In The Categories of Life, Sgt Ralph Coltrane (Fred Koehler) is disarmed of his Beretta (because of his portrayal as an US-soldier it can be assumed that it's a stand-in for the M9, the military version of the Beretta 92FS) by camp administrator Colin Maloney (Marc Vann), who uses it to shoot Dr Vera Juarez. In The Middle Men, Sgt Coltrane uses his Beretta to fatally shoot Maloney. Gwen is briefly seen handling one whilst robbing a pharmacy in The Gathering.
