The Iron Lady
|
The Iron Lady is a British 2011 film directed by Phyllida Lloyd about the life of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, based on an original screenplay by Abi Morgan. Marked by age and dementia, Margaret Thatcher looks back on her life in several flashbacks. Margaret Thatcher grew up in ordinary circumstances. At the time, there was not much to suggest the political career that would make Margaret one of the most famous politicians of the past decades. With the support of her husband Denis, she conquered England's male-dominated politics. She manages to break down the boundaries between classes and genders and makes a name for herself internationally as the "Iron Lady". Her perception is highly ambivalent, feared by some, and revered by others.
