The Great British Train Robbery is a 1966 German television three-parter which was filmed from the beginning of 1965. The film describes the spectacular mail train robbery in Great Britain on August 8, 1963, which was planned and executed by a general staff and brought the perpetrators a record haul of £ 2,631,684 (about 59 million pounds sterling or 75 million Dollars in today's value). 50 kilometers from its destination in London, Her Majesty's Mail train is ambushed on August 8, 1963. During the spectacular robbery, the masked men take over 2.6 million pounds sterling. While the police launch a manhunt, the first tensions arise within the so-called Gentlemen's Gang.
