Son of the Pink Panther is the eighth film in the Pink Panther movie series. Roberto Benigni stars in the film as Gendarme Jacques Gambrelli, the illegitimate son of Inspector Clouseau, who travels to the fictional country of Lagash to rescue a beautiful princess. The 1993 comedy was also the final film directed by Edwards and the final film scored by Henry Mancini, who composed the iconic theme. A "reboot" of the film series starring Steve Martin would begin with The Pink Panther (2006).
