Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)

Close Encounters of the Third Kind is a 1977 science fiction drama written and directed by Steven Spielberg. The film stars Richard Dreyfuss as an ordinary father who finds himself mysteriously drawn to an unusual meeting point in the Western United States.

The following weapons were used in the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind:

Valmet M71S

A Valmet M71S with a wooden handguard and a 30 round magazine is seen in the hands of a Mongolian man in the Gobi Desert in a scene originally deleted from the film, but later re-added to the film's special edition re-release. It is probably standing in for an AK-47 style rifle.

Several unknown M16 variants which includes (assumed) night vision scopes are used by the US Military.

The handle of the revolver is visible in the holster as Robert alerts Lacombe.

Browning M2 Aircraft

The Grumman TBF Avengers of Flight 19 (at least one aircraft) is seen with what is assumed to be a Browning M2 .50 BMG in it's dorsal turret.
