Capricorn One (1977)

Capricorn One is a 1977 thriller directed by Peter Hyams and stars James Brolin as the commander of America's first manned mission to Mars, who finds himself forced along with his crew to participate in a conspiracy to fabricate the actual landing. The cast included Hal Holbrook, O.J. Simpson, Sam Waterston, Elliott Gould, and Telly Savalas.

After the learjet makes a crash landing, Col. Brubaker (James Brolin) finds a Colt Detective Special in a survival kit, however he loses it while hiding from his pursuers. The Federal Agents who go to arrest Robert Caulfield (Elliott Gould) in his apartment also appear to be armed with the Colt Detective Special.
