You overwrote a net based image of the 1873 gun that I uploaded.  Normally this is standard practice, since the replacing shot is much higher quality than the replaced image.  I was just wondering.  The original shot was of a blued revolver.  Your replacing shots is of a revolver that's either 'in the white' or a different finish.  Wouldn't it be better to have both images to show the different finishes?[[User:MoviePropMaster2008|MoviePropMaster2008]] 08:12, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

I noticed you put in a lot of actors pages from classic films which is good since I don't even have those movies that you've listed, but when you're screencapping the movie pages, could you get a good facial recognition screenshot of the actor for placement on the actor's page?  Some of the actors I don't know and since I don't have those films I can't put up a decent shot which shows their faces.  I usually screengrab a good shot of an actor or actress that is not a gun pic since when we're all doing gun pics, we always focus on whether the gun is clear in the shot, rather than the person.  Anyway, that would be really cool if you did that.  Thanks again.  MPM2008

You're right. I failed to notice the difference in size. I guess the feattures did get it wrong, I remember them saying they used 7.62x51mm NATO blanks. - Gunmaster45

You say you're a film armorer. Can you name a few movies you have worked on? - Gunmaster45
He's got his IMDB profile linked in his username, Gunmaster. I'm not an armorer myself, but trust me when I tell you that this guy is among the most experienced of them. -MT2008 04:29, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
I don't have the DVD with the Potato Digger... yet. I'll own all the DVDs soon. And for MT, I wasn't asking him for proof reasons, I just wanted to know. For some reason, it never even phased me to click the link. - Gunmaster45
I was looking at the movies you've done. You've got a lot of great ones on their. I also noticed you were the armorer for some videogames. I remember MT asking about that, how exactly does that work? This site has a lot of the movies you did listed so feel free to add your knowledge to them. I'll make sure to get that episode one way or another for the Mail Call page (now that I realize you worked on that episode). At one point, I was planning on doing the two Charlie's Angels movies, so your knowledge would help out on the Full Throttle movie. - Gunmaster45

Re:Video Games

That does sound pretty annoying. It's a shame that they use all your hard work and still screw up how the guns shoot and reload. I have yet to see a game get it all right. The Rainbow Six: Vegas games are probably the closest to perfection (leave rounds in the chamber, sound changes inside and outside, almost all reload right).

For future reference, label your name after you message someone by using 3 ~ signs. This way others and I don't have to check the history to see it is you. - Gunmaster45

Re:Iron Man CAR-15

I screencapped that movie but MoviePropMaster added that shot. I'll change it as soon as I finish adding my string of shots to Mail Call. - Gunmaster45

M60E1

I'll be damned, you're right. I had somehow been told a while back that the M60E1 was the improved variant, but I thought it looked the same. No one had ever corrected me so I assumed it was right. My defense was going to be that We Were Soldiers was a 'Nam movie (where they would use older examples) but I guess they look different. I'm going to have to change a LOT of pages now. If you see any pages with M60s listed as E1s, please help me out and change it. - Gunmaster45

Re: Live Free or Die Hard

That would really be awesome! I notice you just posted the picture of the Titanic 1911 - is that a picture you just took? It looks really great, and I'm happy we have that up now. If you can take photos of the Mark 12s from Live Free or Die Hard, that would be just as well. Also, what kind of lowers were the Mark 12 uppers on in that movie? I'm guessing they were on transferable M16A1 lowers like a lot of the Hollywood M16 variants?

I see you're working on a page for The Shadow. Would you mind if we put a "See Also" section that links to that interview you did back in 2005 on the Silver Heat? -MT2008 02:32, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Your page format

I've noticed your page format is a little different then what we consider "standard". While I have no right to tell you how to make a page, I suggest you use "none" instead of "left" for image destination so the titles don't get all messy (you may notice how they go left and right). And possibly add descriptions because we have a lot of guns and actor pages and linking to them is kind of required on the site (look at some of the other admins. pages and you'll see what I mean. Also, adding gun images to go with the section helps people who don't know what the gun looks like to get a basic view and again, is standard requirement.

Again, it is your choice on how you make your pages but I'm just suggesting you follow format to fit the site. - Gunmaster45

Thanks

(Nice photos you got the other day from our friend. I did not mean to rub you the wrong way last week. We could work better together and put this behind us ) Thanks! Apology Accepted! :) Sorry I didn't respond earlier but I had a last minute gig that I had to run away to for a week. No problem. I must also apologize, one of my hot buttons is any implication that the hard work I do in photography is somehow 'easy' (something which I get from a lot of non-photographers, which just pushes my buttons. I just have to let it slide off my back...). You know what I mean. It's like the people who don't deal with firearms all the time, thinking that getting a full auto gun is just easy and cheap to do, or other things like that. Any way, I take about an 30 to 90 minutes per image to clean it up and post it, but I do my part to get clean shots of the firearms. If you have a chance to check out some of the gun pages, I have put a lot of new pics on alot of the pages. I have already posted about 250 original firearms images and intend to do more. I also heard from Mike that you're one of the best smiths in the biz (well, according to him). That's good since I was asking him about some recommendations for kicking down some work from my neck of the woods. Well good to speak to you :) And I hope you're busy (being that this SAG strike vote thing is killing all of us). :( best regards. MPM

Thanks again for the compliment

It was very appreciated! :) Yes that S.A.G. BS is just so full of crap. I was down talking with Mike P. because I'm doing a movie in April or May that might need more Military stuff than I have. (kinda a 'cloverfield' type of scene with tons of Army guys). He also highly recommended you and your abilities from the first time I walked in the door ;) (something to note, Mike immediately praised you and spoke highly of you! So you gotta be GOOD! ). Hahahaha, I bet you completely recognized the guns from that glass case (from all those movies! :) ) Best of luck on your other work. I have a bunch of non industry or semi peripherally associated work. Next time I have lunch with Syd and Mike I'll PM you to see your schedule! Lunch is always on me. best regards MoviePropMaster2008 08:36, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Legends of the Fall

Thanks for the correction, I was under the assumption it was a Purdey .577 based on the rounds on his bandoleer. Make sure you don't correct the last picture on the page yet, doing that will cause an edit conflict and screw up all the new stuff I'm adding. By any chance do you know where I could find a pic of this shotgun? - Gunmaster45

Unforgiven

Thanks for the correction, I'm not a pro with shotguns and just followed what was previously listed on the page before hand. Those pictures would be great. I had to do Unforgiven because before I saw Heat, it was my favorite movie. - Gunmaster45

Colt 1903 Pocket Hammer

Thanks for the info. Of course. This model has a hammer. Thanks for the clear up. :) MoviePropMaster2008 21:23, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Winchester 1897

It is prefered you don't save over images with new ones. If the image is a superior picture of the same model, then it is fine, but you don't save over one model with another. Now all the images and pages intenting to use the Trench model 1897 have an image of a Riot model (some of which are still labeled as Trench guns). So for future reference, don't replace an image unless it is the same model, or images on pages get messed up. - Gunmaster45

Re:Appaloosa

I'm afraid I haven't seen Appaloosa but I'll look for it next time I go out. As for the Unforgiven shotgun, I appreciate you finding the image of the shotgun very much, the page needs it. I failed to notice you did have the proper pictures for the Winchester 1897, I just saw the Riot gun linked to pages where I remembered Trench guns being used, but they were indeed Riots. So ingnore what I said. Speaking of westerns, after I finish The Boondock Saints (which I really need to get done soon), I'm going to do the mini-series Lonesome Dove. I also plan to do Young Guns and eventually The Last Days of Frank and Jesse James. But first I have to finish the damn Boondock Saints. - Gunmaster45

Someone built a page for Appaloosa and it has a nice picture of Viggo with the 8 gauge so I think your picture would work now. - Gunmaster45

Sgt. York

I see you did Sgt. York, which I'm glad to see because that's a famous movie that the site can boast about owning. I have just a FEW more notes to add about proper page format.

  • When listing a gun, you see we usually do it like this:

--M1911-- (substituting equal signs)

Sgt. Alvin York (Gary Cooper) guns down six German soldiers with his M1911 pistol.

(PICTURE OF GUN|Caption:Colt M1911 - .45 ACP.)

(Screencaps)

What I mean is link all actors and guns to their appropriate pages by putting double brackets over them (that's why we have actor and gun pages, so the movie pages link to them). With guns, some pages have multiple categories, so linking them properly is prefered. Look at the edit to see how I write this: M16A1 Rifle.

Also, instead of writing "An example of said gun used in film", it is prefered you copy and paste what the image cpation says on its page or write it yourself and keep it basic. Like a 1911 picture could say "Colt M1911 - .45 ACP." This way caliber is listed as is the gun's name. (look at some of my newest pages and see what I mean)

But you have the right to make the pages however you want, it is just prefered you try to follow the site's format closely. Thanks. - Gunmaster45

Thanks, there are still some users on here who are a little... ignorant of these guidlines. Glad to see you're willing to cooperate. - Gunmaster45
I'm a little confused what you mean. Can you rephrase that somehow? - Gunmaster45
BTW, I like your fixs to Sgt. York, but you don't need to link the title, just the info inside. And look at the Luger section, it is prefered you write a paragraph above the images instead of inside the images. The captions are usually used as guidlines so the viewer knows what's happening and when in the film. - Gunmaster45

Re: Mr. & Mrs. Smith 1911

I'm pretty sure it is not a left handed gun, the image is just flipped (look at the DVD cover in which he holds the gun in his right hand, it appears to be properly flipped).

The webiste didn't have any images I could find so I couldn't compare. - Gunmaster45

I checked out that image and I'm not too sure the lefty gun is right.

Actor Pages

I don't block actor pages and anyone who does seriously takes too much pride in their work. As if an actor page, which is the easiest to make, is going to be destroyed by someone adding info.

In most cases, we protect pages from anonymous users. We see that the most serious people make a profile if they wish to knowledgabley add to the site. One too many anonymous users gave us garbage and trolled so we got sick of it. It usually isn't a concern but when I make a 40+ page, it is a pain to remove the dumb comments and such in a maze of information. So if we block the anonymous, the serious make profiles and the trolls move on. If they make profiles to continue trolling or saying dumb things, we ban them.

If anyone of the admins. blocks a page for sysop only access that doesn't need it at all, I'll have a talk with them. Only our profiles and rules pages need that protection. - Gunmaster45

Chamelot Delvigne Model 1873

You overwrote a net based image of the 1873 gun that I uploaded. Normally this is standard practice, since the replacing shot is much higher quality than the replaced image. I was just wondering. The original shot was of a blued revolver. Your replacing shots is of a revolver that's either 'in the white' or a different finish. Wouldn't it be better to have both images to show the different finishes?MoviePropMaster2008 08:12, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Actor pages

I noticed you put in a lot of actors pages from classic films which is good since I don't even have those movies that you've listed, but when you're screencapping the movie pages, could you get a good facial recognition screenshot of the actor for placement on the actor's page? I usually screengrab a good shot of an actor or actress that is not a gun pic since when we're all doing gun pics, we always focus on whether the gun is clear in the shot, rather than the person. Anyway, that would be really cool if you did that. Thanks again. MPM2008
