Extra work on the SG-1 page

Hey, I really like all the work you've done to make the SG-1 page into a comprehensive list of all the weapons that have appeared on the show. However, I must ask...would you be OK if I did some extra work on it just to make it a little less taxing on the eyes? When you have lots and lots of screenshots, it's usually a good idea to make them into thumbnails on the page so that they don't wind up being an eyesore.

Additionally, I'd also recommend you add episode info to each screenshot (if you've got it), as well as pictures of the guns from our archive so that anyone browsing this site will have something to compare it to. See what I've done on the section for the very first gun on the page (the Beretta M9) as an ex of what I mean.

-If you want to make the page better, go right ahead. I had no problems with the size of some of the pics cause I think it draws attention, but if you think it is better a little smaller, go right ahead. I'm still new to the wiki editting, so I don't know how to do everything.

SG-1 Screenshots

GREAT WORK! on the SG1 screen shots. I just wish more people knew how to do great screen shots and put them in the pages. It really makes the page great! BTW: I will be doing more custom gun photographs soon and I will be photographing my own USAS-12 with both stick and drum magazines in place. I try to grab as many real movie guns from my own inventory (plus guns from the inventory of professional colleagues as I can), but they're in the biz of making movies and get annoyed with me sometimes, since I always want to take softbox photos of their guns against a white background. I will GET shots of the actual guns from T-2 perhaps in a month when I get a chance. Great WORK on the SG1 pics! MoviePropMaster2008

SG-1 guns

Hi,

Your pages for the Stargate movies and TV show are really awesome! Thanks for all the hard work you've put in! I wish I could do the same, except my POS laptop has been really acting up lately and I literally can't play any of my DVDs on it right now.

Anyway, I just thought I'd help out with some extra details, in case you find them relevant:

  • (1.) Most of the M16A2s on SG1, especially in the early seasons, are actually M16A1s that have been fitted with A2-style handguards. You can tell because they have A1-style receivers which lack the brass deflector and the elevation-adjustable rear sight (look closely at the rifle in the top picture, for instance). A few of them (usually in non-firing scenes) are actually civilian AR15 SP1s which lack even the forward assist and the magazine fencing.
  • (2.) I believe the AKs used by the Russian SG team are actually Norinco Type 84s, which is a Chinese AK variant that fires 5.56x45mm. In the show, they seem to be fitted with AK74-style folding stocks and muzzle breaks, but the design of the magazine (steel and ribbed, not plastic like the real AK74) gives them away.
  • (3.) The AKs used by the Hondurans are a Yugoslav copy called the Zastava M70B.
  • (4.) Many of the M203s on SG1 are look-a-like 37mm Colt flare launchers, which is very common in many movies and TV shows when they don't want to spend the money - or go through the legal difficulties - of getting real M203s (which are NFA-regulated items).
  • (5.) As far as the "Carter Special" (the little AR with the thumbhole stock) goes, the picture you posted to illustrate it is an airsoft replica. The guy who built it (for that "Stargate6.com" site that doesn't work anymore) once posted about it on Airsoft Retreat, years ago now. Somebody else actually built a real one, except that it was semi-auto only and had been registered as an SBR in that person's state. I wish so much that I remember where the hell I saw/heard about it! -MT2008
