Season 3 of True Detective features Mahershala Ali as Wayne Hays and Stephen Dorff as his partner Roland West, two state police detectives from Arkansas investigating a macabre crime involving two missing children across three time periods (1980,1990 and 2015). Nic Pizzolato, who wrote all eight episodes of Season 1, scripted all eight episodes of Season 3, with David Milch and Graham Gordy assisting him in scripting two, and several episodes were directed by Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room). Season 3 premiered on HBO on January 13, 2019.
