The Return of Sherlock Holmes is a British 1986-1988 TV series, starring Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes and Edward Hardwicke as Dr. Watson. Eleven short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle were adapted into the series.
The Return of Sherlock Holmes is a second installment in Granada Television TV series, starring Jeremy Brett as Holmes, preceded by The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1984-1985) and followed by The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes (1991-1993), and The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (1994) TV series, and two feature-length made for TV movies: The Sign of Four (1987) and The Hound of the Baskervilles (1988).
The following weapons were used in the television series The Return of Sherlock Holmes:
Revolvers
Webley .455 Mk IV
Dr. John Watson (Edward Hardwicke) uses a Webley .455 Mk IV revolver in "The Empty House" (S01E01), "The Six Napoleons" (S01E07), and "The Bruce Partington Plans" (S02E04).
Pocket revolver
A gold plated pocket revolver with folding trigger is seen in "The Six Napoleons" (S01E07). It looks like a kind of Velo-Dog with exposed hammer. The short cylinder allows to guess that the revolver is chambered not in common Velo-Dog long 5.75mm but in some caliber like .22 Short.
Pistols
Flintlock Pistol
Several Flintlock Pistols are used in "Wisteria Lodge" (S02E03).
Shotguns
Double Barreled Shotgun
Double Barreled Shotguns are seen in hands of Dr. Watson (Edward Hardwicke) and Sir Reginald Musgrave (Michael Culver) in "The Musgrave Ritual" (S01E04).
Other Weapons
Air Rifle
Colonel Sebastian Moran (Patrick Allen) uses his famous and deadly air gun in "The Empty House" (S01E01). The prop, used on screen, is a real masterpiece. It is fitted with a brass sniper scope. The firing mechanism includes a percussion cap hammer which hardly could be used on a real air gun.
