The Outpost is a 2020 war film directed by Rod Lurie. Adapted from the 2012 non-fiction book The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor by Jake Tapper, the film depicts the Battle of Kamdesh, which occurred on October 3, 2009 when a large force of Taliban fighters assaulted U.S. Army forces at Combat Outpost Keating near the town of Kamdesh in Nuristan Province, Afghanistan, resulting in one of the bloodiest battles of the War in Afghanistan.
