The Golden Compass is a 2007 fantasy adventure film directed by Chris Weitz. It is an adaptation of the fantasy novel Northern Lights by Philip Pullman. Orphan Lyra Belacqua embarks on a journey to the Arctic to search for her kidnapped friends while being pursued by agents of the Magisterium, a powerful religious order. Along the way, Lyra uncovers a conspiracy that has the potential to change the world.
