The Evil Within (2014)

The Evil Within is a 2014 third person survival horror video game directed by genre legend Shinji Mikami (the creator of Resident Evil) and published by Bethesda Softworks. In the game, a police detective (voiced by Anson Mount) investigates a mass murder, but soon finds himself in a mysterious world, filled with monsters. The game was released on October 14th for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. A sequel, The Evil Within 2, was released in October 2017.

The following weapons appear in the video game The Evil Within:

Handguns

"Revolver"

Sebastian's primary weapon throughout the game appears to be a hybrid between a Colt M1917 Revolver and a Smith & Wesson Model 25. The frame, placement of the screws, trigger, grip, and hammer are all based on the Colt while the barrel, shroud over the ejector rod, and sights are based off the Smith & Wesson. The ammo boxes you pick up for "Handgun Ammo" are marked up as ".45 Auto" which is correct for both revolvers.

An unlockable model of Sebastian's revolver.

Sebastian with his revolver. Note how the "S&W" logo is included and barely visible at the top of the grip.

Colt M1911A1

Detective Joseph Oda and Junior Detective Julie Kidman use a modified variant of an M1911A1, and it appears to be one of the standard sidearms of Krimson City Police Department. It has a squared trigger guard and lacks the bearvertail of a standard M1911, and the frame has finger grooves along the front of the grip. While the version used by Oda and Kidman cannot be used by the player, a burst-fire variant can be unlocked via collectables.

An unlockable model of the KPD's M1911A1.

"Magnum"

The Magnum appears to be a custom build model that borrows traits from several different models, including the hooked triggerguard from a Manurhin MR-96, a barrel similar to that of a Dan Wesson with the barrel-length underlug trimmed down, and the cylinder latch of a Smith & Wesson revolver.

Shotguns

Winchester Model 1897 "Trench Gun"

In Chapter 3 Sebastian can find the "Shotgun", a Winchester Model 1897 "Trench Gun" which becomes a mainstay to his arsenal.

An in-game description of the Shotgun.
Sebastian aims a M1897 at The Keeper. Note the exposed hammer.

"Double-Barreled Shotgun"

If the player gets the "Fighting Chance Pack" (either by pre-ordering the game before release or via DLC), Sebastian will gain access to the "Double-Barrel Shotgun", a generic 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun with an empty shell holder wrapped around the stock.

Stoeger/IGA Coach Gun Supreme Blue with Stainless Receiver - 12 gauge
An in-game description of the Double-Barrel Shotgun.

Sawed-Off Double Barreled Shotgun

The Sawed-Off Double Barreled Shotgun appears as an enemy-used weapon in the main campaign, but it is aviable for player only in The Consequence DLC.

Sawed off side by side shotgun with exposed hammers - 12 gauge

Rifles

M1903A1 Springfield Sniper Rifle

In chapter 6 Sebastian can obtain the "Sniper Rifle", a makeshift rifle built around a Springfield M1903A1 with a Model 330 Weaver style scope, no front sight, a skeletonized stock, and a metal plate on the outside of the magazine and trigger group. Joseph also uses one briefly during the same chapter.

High-Penetration Sniper Rifle

Finding all of the map pieces scattered throughout the game unlocks the "High-Penetration Sniper Rifle", which appears to be modeled after the Remington 700PSS, but with the (unusable) bipod mounted to the front of the handguard as opposed to below it and with the bolt being identical to that of the regular "Sniper Rifle" (likely a remnant of its in-game digital model being developed from that of the original).

SIG-Sauer SIG556 Classic

Many of the Haunted that used to be police/SWAT officers during the cityscape segments make clumsy use of assault rifles that closely resemble the SIG-Sauer SIG556 Classic with full-auto fire.

Machine Guns

"Light Machine Gun"

Beating one playthrough unlocks the "Light Machine Gun". While its name could technically be considered correct as it is described as being chambered for "rifle ammunition" (which is a propriety ammunition in-game and is not the same ammo used for the sniper rifles) and its magazine appears to be thick enough to accommodate an intermediate rifle round, its design is closest to that of a Japanese Type 100 submachine gun with the magazine relocated to just in front of the trigger guard and the rear sight replaced with an HK-style diopter sight. Trigger group, magazine, and magazine release lever seem to be inspired by AK.

Browning M2HB

A sequence during the cityscape portion of the game features a Browning M2 mounted on the back of a Humvee.

A Haunted fires the Browning M2.

Other

Panzerfaust 3

Completing the game grants Sebastian the Rocket Launcher, a fictitious design derived heavily from the Panzerfaust 3.

Panzerfaust 3 with DM12A1 rocket and standard telescopic sight - 60mm
An in-game description of the Rocket Launcher

Model 24 Stielhandgranate

The grenades found throughout the game are Model 24 Stielhandgranate hand grenades with Model 43 Stielhandgranate fragmentation sleeves.

An in-game description of the grenade.

Agony Crossbow

One of the most versatile weapons in Sebastian's arsenal is the "Agony Crossbow", a custom-built crossbow that can fire a wide variety of bolts.

An in-game description of the Agony Crossbow.

Knife

Sebastian's knife appears to be based on the "KA-BAR Big Brother Fixed Blade Knife", and can only be used for stealth takedowns.

An in-game description of the knife.
