The China Syndrome (1979)


The China Syndrome is a 1979 thriller starring Jack Lemmon as the supervisor of a nuclear power plant who stumbles upon severe safety hazards at said plant and tries to expose them, ultimately taking a news reporter hostage to do so. The film's cast included Michael Douglas (who also served as the film's producer) and Jane Fonda. This film gained more notoriety than usual as it was released just 12 days before the infamous Three Mile Island nuclear power plant accident.
