Just a heads up for whoever adds screenshots, I saw a promo piece with the armourer about the weapons training for the show, and I think the rifles are built on Colt Model 733s, at least that was what they were being trained on. Assuming that these were the show weapons without the shell. They were also using what appeared to be Beretta 92 pistols of some sort fitted with rails and red dot sights. They were also being trained on Glocks. No idea if these weapons were actually the prop weapons that were used as a basis for the guns or what, but is worth a look. --commando552 08:07, 27 September 2011 (CDT)

Just watched the pilot, and was it just me or were there a few goofs with the weapons? First off, Jim Shannon originally has a customised Taurus PT92 fitted with rails and sights, but when he gets to the other side it is clearly not the same weapon, and has turned into the same pistol that everyone else carries (I prop I think). Then when the kids are trapped in the Rover they can all be seen with that ergonomic monstrosity of a rifle/PDW that has the magazine poking out the top of the butt (I think this is a prop too, as I think there were no on screen muzzle flashes when they were being fired). When they leave the vehicle though the only weapons they had were a totally different rifle that made from a Colt Model 733 type weapon. I can understand only using weapons that are built on actual guns for firing scenes, but if they are a completely different design to the prop (magazine at the front on the bottom as opposed to at the back on top) I am going to start getting annoyed with it. --commando552 13:23, 27 September 2011 (CDT)

Are you serious (and if so, are they serious)? The pistol that is handled by Jim in the beginning is definitely a modified Taurus PT92 with Pachmayr grips (you can clearly see the slide markings), and the assault rifles used by the 6ers (and later the kids) are modified ARs - you can see the AR magazines and blank shell casings being ejected. Also, an armorer's name is listed in the credits - I highly doubt that they would pay an armorer just to handle Nerf Guns. -MT2008 23:01, 27 September 2011 (CDT)

The time you see the Taurus at the beginning is the only time you see it, all other times the pistols are the same prop gun that I don't think is built on anything. As for the rifles in the series, 4 different ones have shown up so far. Firstly you have a SMG type weapon that has the magazine mounted on top with what looks like an extendible stock coming out the back of the weapon. You hav another very similar weapon but rather than have a strut coming out the back of the weapon for the butt, the butt plate is mounted on the back of the receiver, and it has a longer barrel. Then you have the tranquilliser guns that have a side mounted stick magazine and a rather than a round barrel have a horizontal slot. Lastly you have the CAR-15 built weapons with the magazine coming out the bottom. With the exception of the Tauarus and the CAR-15 rifle, I don't think any of these guns are real firearms. That being said I have seen promotional pictures where the top loading magazine of the first two rifles was removed, so it is possible they are real guns, but I doubt it (Nerf wouldn't be out of the question). Just did some looking into it and the pistols are modified Nerf Nite Finders: its the grip that really gives it away. The two prop rifles are supposedly made from the Recon for the short barrelled, and the Longshot for the longer barrelled. Not so sure about these last two but the pistols are definitely Nerfs, with not even that much modification. --commando552 04:59, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

Someone that works on the show chimed in on the RPF. There were two rifles made for the show from modified Nerf Guns. Molds were taken, and fiberglass copies were made. Some of the copies were modified to accept live fire weapons. The Tranq gun used some Nerf parts, but is mostly scratch built. The unaltered Nerf guns were used by the prop department to add more guns to background actors, they were never intended to be see close-up. This person thinks that Nerf guns were used because it is very difficult, even in the movie industry, to get replica weapons, like airsoft guns in Australia. --Krel 00:24, 10 December 2011 (CST)
