There is to my knowledge NO Model 66 made that has a full underlug shroud. Unless it was some (extremely rare) special run, but that's doubtful. All-told I'm almost certain the gun is indeed a Model 686. Compare the 'screen-used' gun image with that of a 66 and it's clear the frame isn't exactly the same. As for the 'note': Early-version 686s featured rounded cylinder releases. As for the sights and hammer, these are/were parts shared across several S&W models.
