30 round magazines for m1928 Thompson?

Is this true that the 30 round magazine didn't come about until the M1A1? That doesn't seem accurate. --Ben41 02:00, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Yep, it's true. Before that, only the drums and the 20-rounders were available. The 30-rounder was introduced specifically for the military M1 and M1A1 models. -MT2008 02:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned image

I took out the picture below from the main article. I realized as I was researching the Type 99 cannon online that the guns in the picture didn't look anything like Type 99s, and they didn't look like Type 97 either. I think they're meant to be the 7.7mm Type 97-03 Machine Guns as seen here under "armament" [2] --Ben41 10:59, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

The 7.7mm MGs are mounted in the nose, firing through the propeller arch via synchronizer. If these were the 7.7mm MGs, you wouldn't be able to see them like this. --funkychinaman 11:33, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry that it's only a painting, but it's the best view that I could find. Those bulges in front of the cockpit are the Type 97s. As you can see, they can't be the guns in the picture. [3] --funkychinaman 12:50, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Type 97 Light Machine Gun

During the attack on Pearl Harbor, the A5M "Zero" fighters can be seen with twin Type97-03 Navy machine guns as their main armament, strafing targets on the ground and attempting to engage Lieutenants McCawley and Walker when the two manage to get airborne.

The airfield is strafed by the Zero's machine guns.
