Mauser Rifle
Judging by the tangent-leaf rear sight this Mauser rifle looks to me like a Brazilian or Czech variant. The rear sight appears to be surrounded by wood, which is not present on the G98M.
P.S.: I don't know if it's correct but the Unidentified rifle reminds me of a Mannlicher M1890 Carbine or a Frühwirth Model 1872--HighPhigh (talk) 02:58, 19 January 2022 (EST)
- Thanks, a good idea about Mauser. The movie was mostly filmed in Hungary, and three credited armorers are from Hungary, so the Czech model seems more credible that the Brazilian one.
- Concerning unidentified rifle: it definitely has a kind of lever or protrusion behind the trigger guard. It may be a breech lever or a palm rest (I don't known if I use the correct term but hope it's clear what I mean). And I cannot see any presence of protruding magazine. So I doubt about Mannlicher. Also the top barrel band, the only part that is seen clear, differs (BTW, this detail makes me think about Winchester 1873 Musket). Frühwirth carbine is another matter, a number of details are really similar: the "palm rest" (again sorry if the term is incorrect), the top sling swivel and even the safety (possibly a small detail that is seen on the first screenshot near the corner of the character's mouth is the safety). But... but... don't know. I'll upload several more screenshots with this gun and try to look for close-ups of Frühwirth. - Well... Werndl may be really a precise hit, thanks again! I would even dare to say that original M1867 rather than an 1873/77 that is on our page. Maybe not but the barrel band with the screw is very similar to this version.
