Because, by the way the gun was made, it was practically untrack-/unidentifyable.
It should be noted that the 'composite pistol' seen in those mentioned episodes of the X-Files is not the same gun as this one - It has a gray color and a considerably different look than the ITLOF gun. I have seen this other composite pistol in some other things but the titles elude me right now. Anyway, this is the only page for such weapons, but I'm not sure I wanna link to this page since it isn't exactly the same weapon. If it were possible to get an image of the other weapon it could probably be noted, but I suppose it might require a different gun page since it's not the ITLOF weapon... Bah, anyway, should I keep the listing here and make a note or should something else be done about this? StanTheMan (talk) 21:06, 19 August 2014 (EDT)

So the damage of it reaching "wrong hands" would've been huge.

Also, on the other side, if someone would've used it and it'd have blown up due to wear and tear, the prop-company could've been sued for a lot of money.--Maxmali (talk) 11:40, 15 March 2015 (EDT)

Why did it have to be destroyed after the film was made? - User: 2wingo

Because, by the way the gun was made, it was practically untrack-/unidentifyable. So the damage of it reaching "wrong hands" would've been huge.

Also, on the other side, if someone would've used it and it'd have blown up due to wear and tear, the prop-company could've been sued for a lot of money.--Maxmali (talk) 11:40, 15 March 2015 (EDT)
