The film was directed by Brian De Palma (Scarface) and stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, an agent of the IMF (Impossible Mission Force), who is determined to keep the CIA's NOC list from being falling into the wrong hands while attempting to uncover the mole within the IMF that got his team killed and framed him for their demise. The film would spawn three sequels: Mission: Impossible II (2000), Mission: Impossible III (2006), and the upcoming Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (scheduled for late 2011).

Makarov PM

A female IMF agent is seen holding a Makarov PM when she and another IMF team raid the meeting room of Max (Vanessa Redgrave). It is not a CZ 83 as previously thought, on account of the trigger guard which differs greatly from the CZ. On his watch viewscreen, Ethan sees a suppressed Makarov being used.
