The following guns were used in the film Legends of the Fall:

Legends of the Fall (1994)

Winchester 1873

The Ludlow family keeps a Winchester 1873 as a hunting rifle, and several of the Ludlows use it, most notabley Tristan Ludlow (Brad Pitt).

Winchester 1873 - .44-40 WCF.
Col. William Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins) teaches Susannah Fincannon Ludlow (Julia Ormond) how to fire a Winchester 1873 rifle at a can. She appears to be left eye-dominant, which is rather inconveniant since she is a right handed shooter.
Tristan (Brad Pitt) chambers his Winchester 1873 rifle while hunting the Grizzly bear. A smart hunter would have the gun already chambered since animals have sharp hearing and it would likely spook the bear (or anger it).
Tristan taking aim at the bear.
For unknown reasons, he doesn't kill it.
Alfred Ludlow (Aidan Quinn) with a Winchester 1873 after killing the last O'Banian thug.
Tristan takes the Winchester. The location of his finger is not good.
At least he blocks the hammer with his thumb.

Single Action Army

Both Col. William Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins) and Tristan Ludlow (Brad Pitt) keep Single Action Army revolvers as their sidearms while working on the ranch.

Colt Single Action Army - .45 Long Colt.
A 5" Artillery Single Action Army is seen tucked in Col. Ludlow's belt. You'd think if he bought the bullet holding belt, he'd by a holster too.
Tristan is forced to shoot a cow trapped in barbed wire with his nickel Single Action Army.
Tristan holds his SAA on a bartender when he refuses to serve One Stab (Gordon Tootoosis) for being an Indian.

Henry 1860

Samuel Ludlow (Henry Thomas) is seen holding a Henry 1860 rifle when watching his wife shoot.

Henry 1860 - .44 Rimfire.
Samuel with a Henry 1860.

Winchester 1895

Decker (Paul Desmond) is handed a Winchester 1895 rifle by Col. Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins) when he aids Teen Tristan (Eric Johnson) after he is attacked by a bear.

Winchester 1895 - .30-06.
Decker to the left is briefly seen with a Winchester 1895.

Remington Rolling Block

Whenever hunting bears, Col. Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins) and One Stab (Gordon Tootoosis) use military style Remingon Rolling Block rifles.

Military Remington Rolling Block - .45 Caliber.

Sharps 1874

Decker (Paul Desmond) uses a Sharps 1874 rifle fitted with a Vernier peep sight as his main weapon throughout the entire film.

Sharps 1874 - .45-70.
Decker in the backround aiming his Sharps 1874 Long Range at the bear.
Decker aiming down his Sharps.
Decker loads his Sharps rifle when preparing to snipe a police official in his car.
Decker shoots the car's tire out to make the official leave his car.
Decker cocks the hammer on the Sharps. Nice shot of the Vernier peep sight.
Decker loads a 3rd round into his Sharps after the second round only wounds the official.

Double Barreled Shotgun

Tristan (Brad Pitt) brings Colonel (Anthoney Hopkins) back a decorative Double Barreled Shotgun after traveling most of the world. He uses it to kill the last of the O'Banion thugs on his lawn when they come to kill Tristan.

Remington SPR210 Shotgun - 12 Gauge.
The shotgun disassembled in a presentation case.
Colonel tries to assemble the shotgun, but has difficulty do to the paralysis from his stroke.
Colonel produces the shotgun from under his coat to shoot John T. O'Banion (Robert Wisden).
Colonel shoots O'Banion with the shotgun, which practically destroys his chest with buckshot and then throws him off his feet to the ground, because Hollywood believes a shotgun is capable of knocking someone down.
Colonel shoots the thug next to him.

Holland and Holland 10ga. Paradox

Tristan (Brad Pitt) is seen using a Holland and Holland 10ga. Paradox while hunting big game in Africa.
