Journey Southwest (Cesta na jihozapad) is a 1989 Czechoslovak Western movie directed by Zdenek Sirový and losely based on short stories by Jack London. Teenage boy Ben (Jirí Strach) after the tragic death of his father lives in the camp of gold prospectors. Chett Adams (Jirí Schmitzer) who recently appears in the town wants to help the boy and uses the money he won to send Ben to school south-west (hence the title of the movie). But the journey for a better life becomes the hard school of life and makes Ben a grown man.
The following weapons were used in the film Journey Southwest (Cesta na jihozápad):
Revolvers
Colt Dragoon
"Grandfather" Jones (Milan Sandhaus) carries a Colt Dragoon revolver. The gun has a finger spur on trigger guard that is uncommon for genuine Colts; possibly this is a sign of European copy. Also the revolver has a rear sight that was used on carbine version (with detachable shoulder stocks) of Dragoon.
Single Action Army "Civilian" model
Bill (Oldrich Vlach), one of the trio of bandits, carries a Single Action Army "Civilian" model revolver. Hexagonal barrel and smooth base pin, both uncommon for original Colts, are likely signs of European copy.
Chamelot-Delvigne Model 1873
Tony (Zdenek Podhurský), the leader of bandits trio, carries a Chamelot-Delvigne Model 1873 revolver.
Gasser M1870/74 Montenegrin
The third bandit, one-handed Jeff (Ivan Palúch) carries a Gasser M1870/74 Montenegrin revolver.
Smith & Wesson Military & Police (Spanish version)
Noble gunslinger Chett (Jirí Schmitzer) carries a revolver in Smith & Wesson Military & Police style. Such details as the shape of lanyard ring and its swivel allows to guess the gun to be a Spanish copy, like Trocaola Aranzabal Y Cia or Orbea.
Rifles
Winchester Model 1906
In one scene Jeff is seen with a pump-action gun that appears to be a small caliber rifle. Winchester Model 1906 seems to be a decent guess.
Winchester Model 1895 Sporter
Bill uses a Winchester Model 1895 Sporter. A closeup of the receiver allows to see the marks of removed loading bridge, a sign of Russian contract version.
Winchester Model 1907
Tony carries a Winchester Model 1907 with 5-round magazine. The movie preciously shows the maintainence and assembling of this self-loading rifle.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 1897
"Grandfather" Jones' long gun is a Winchester Model 1897 pump-action shotgun.
