Homeland is a television drama/thriller that stars Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison, a CIA officer suffering from bipolar disorder, who is convinced that Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), a recently released US Marine who was captured by Al Qaeda near the beginning of the Iraq War, has in fact become a sleeper agent for the terrorist organization. In the series' fourth season, Carrie continues her work in the CIA while stationed in the Middle East. The series, which was loosely adapted from the Israeli television series Hatufim, premiered on the Showtime network in the US in 2011 and is being produced by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, who were both involved with the series 24.
