Dead Season (Myortvyy sezon) is a Soviet 1968 two-part spy movie directed by Savva Kulish. Soviet intellegence officer Ladeynikov (Donatas Banionis) investigate the activities of former Nazi war criminal Dr. Haas (Vladimir Erenberg) who works under a new name in a pharmaceutical center in a small resort town of Dargate. Haas continues his wartime research of a psycho-chemical agent RH. Since Ladeynikov is unaware of Hass's appearance, he is assisted by Ivan Savushkin (Rolan Bykov) who in 1944 escaped from a POW camp where Hass was testing his gas. Together Ladeynikov and Savushkin must identify and stop Haas.
