Copycat (1995)

Handguns

SIG-Sauer P230

Det. M.J. Monahan (Holly Hunter) uses a SIG-Sauer P230 as her main sidearm. Foley (William McNamara) steals this gun in the final sequence.

SIG-Sauer P230 - .380 ACP
Monahan's P230 is seen being carried in a black leather holster located at the small of her back.
Monahan holds her P230 in the police station shootout.
Monahan enters in the house of Helen Hudson (Sigourney Weaver).
Monahan inspects Helen's home with her SIG in hand. Note that the hammer is cocked.
Monahan holds her SIG in Helen's home. Bad trigger discipline, Monahan!
Monahan checks the bathrooms.
Monahan shoots into a stall. Holly Hunter does an excellent job at keeping her eyes open while shooting.
Foley shoots at Monahan.
Foley is shot while holding Monahan's P230.

Colt Mustang

Later in the film, in Det M.J. Monahan (Holly Hunter) carries a backup weapon in addition to her SIG. This firearm seems to be another small .380, possibly a Colt Mustang or a Mustang Plus II. It is unclear if the weapon seen is in stainless or blued finish. It is obviously not the Colt Combat Commander that she used earlier in the film or a Para-Ordnance P-12, due to the size it is in her hand. We can't be sure, but it's probably a Colt Mustang. Either way, Monahan sure likes her .380s.

Monahan lowers the hammer of her Mustang.

Smith & Wesson Model 28 Highway Patrolman

Daryll Lee Cullum (Harry Connick Jr.) steals a Smith & Wesson Model 28 Highway Patrolman off the policeman who comes to the bathrooms.

Smith & Wesson Model 28 Highway Patrolman - .357 Magnum
Close up of the cop's M28.
Cullum takes the cop hostage. Note the dull finish and shallow cylinder fluting, this appears to be a rubber stunt prop, likely done for safety reasons. Also, note Harry Connick Jr.'s good trigger discipline.
Cullum shoots at the cop. This seems to be either a real gun firing blanks or a flash paper gun, either way, it is different than the rubber prop seen earlier.
Peter Foley (William McNamara) never uses his M28.

SIG-Sauer P220

The Chinese boy steals a SIG-Sauer P220 (Judging from the lack of a double stack ridge) off Nicoletti (Will Patton) from his drawer and then takes Det. Reuben Goetz (Dermot Mulroney) hostage.

SIG-Sauer P220 - .45 ACP
Nicoletti puts his gun in the drawer...
but carelessly forgets to lock it...
Reuben taken hostage by the Chinese boy. And to think, he just offered him a donut! Note the lack of a double-stack magazine bulge on the frame, identifying this as a P220.
The Chinese boy holds the SIG P220 on Reuben. Note the flat triangle on the front half of the slide, helping to identify this as a stamped West German-manufactured gun.
The Chinese boy picks up the SIG...
And fires. It seems to be a SIG flash paper gun.
The Chinese boy is apprehended with another P220.
A SFPD SWAT member outside Foley's burning house uses either a P220 or a P226.

Colt Combat Commander with Seecamp Conversion

Det M.J. Monahan (Holly Hunter) uses a double action converted Colt Commander with satin stainless finish and wraparound rubber Pachmayr grips while shooting on the gun range.

Monahan and Reuben fire their pistols on the gun range.
Monahan fires on the shoulder of a target to demonstrate a non-lethal method of subduing an assailant.
While Reuben is trying to make a phone call, Monahan fires a few shots from the side for fun, "gangsta-style".

Beretta 92F

Det. Reuben Goetz (Dermot Mulroney) uses a Beretta 92F. One of the desk jockey cops at the station also is seen with a holstered older model, likely a Beretta 92F, judging by its glossy black grips.

Reuben reloads his 92FS. Note the cutaway poster of a SIG-Sauer P226 hanging on the wall.
A pencil pusher at the station appears to have a Beretta 92FS in a leather holster. Note the round Beretta trident logo in the middle of the grips, as well as the distinctive Beretta magazine baseplate.
A higher quality screen grab that shows a better view of the Beretta, its grips are glossy black, so it is likely an older model 92F rather than the 92FS, which has satin black grips.
A SFPD SWAT member inside Foley's burning house uses a 92FS.

Colt MK IV Series 70

Lt. Thomas Quinn (J.E. Freeman) uses a Colt MK IV Series 70.

Colt MKIV Series 70 - .45 ACP
The Colt is circled in red. Note the golden Colt medallions on the checkered wooden grips.
Freeman tries to stop the Chinese man. In the second shot the bushing looks to be open.

Glock 19

A cop is seen sitting at a desk in the station is seen carrying a holstered black semi-automatic in what appears to be a black leather holster. We here at the IMFDB were stumped for years as to what exactly this gun was (because of poor quality screen grabs and an overall lack of clear shots of the weapon in the film). There were several culprits based on size and color, though few enough to narrow down a few likely suspects, such as a Smith & Wesson 6904 or a compact Glock 19 (the Glock 26 was not introduced until several years after this film was made). It is not clearly seen enough to identify from the side (even on higher quality prints of the film), though a front shot of the cop reveals what appears to be a Glock "cup"-style rear sight. The size of the pistol in the holster makes it likely that it is a Glock 19, mostlikely a second-generation model.

2nd Generation Glock 19 - 9x19mm
The cop's Glock 19 in the black holster is circled in red.
A higher quality screen grab that is also actually in focus this time. (It's almost as if the filmmakers wanted to make it as difficult as possible to identify, but we here at IMFDB like a challenge!) Look closely at the rear sight, which appears to be a dead giveaway that it is a Glock.

Submachine Guns

Heckler & Koch MP5A3

The San Francisco PD SWAT enter the Foley's house armed with Heckler & Koch MP5A3s.

Rifles

Bonus

SIG-Sauer P226

At the gun range, a cutaway parts diagram of a West German SIG-Sauer P226 is seen hanging on a wall at the gun range.

Factory black (K-Kote) SIG-Sauer P226 pistol - 9x19mm
As Reuben reloads his 92FS, on the upper right, a cutaway poster of a P226 is seen hanging up on the wall at the outdoor gun range.
