Cold Steel (Chinese title: 遍地狼烟; Pinyin: Biàn dì láng yān) is a 2011 Chinese action war film directed by David Wu. The story takes place in China during the Second World War. When Mu Liangfeng (Peter Ho), a young hunter from a small village, rescues a downed American Flying Tiger, his life is irrevocably changed. A chance meeting with a lovely young widow, Lui Yan (Song Jia), and a teahouse brawl with a group of rowdy Chinese soldiers leads Liangfeng along a path that results in his becoming one of the country's top marksmen. Along with his sniper unit, he must face insurmountable odds at every turn to liberate his country from the brutal invasion of Japanese forces.

Rifles
M1903 Springfield
Chinese military snipers are equipped with M1903 Springfield rifles. The scopes are made by the production, no evidence exists of them being used in WWII by the Chinese army.
Arisaka Type 38
Japanese soldiers use Arisaka Type 38 rifles. Chinese soldiers and resistance fighters also use this weapon.
Arisaka Sniper Rifle
Japanese snipers carry Arisaka Rifles with scopes. The scopes are mockups.

Some Japanese soldiers use Chinese Type Zhongzheng Rifles.
Hanyang 88
Mu Liangfeng (Peter Ho) goes hunting with a Hanyang 88, a copy of the Mauser Gewehr 1888. He later gives it to Lui Yan (Song Jia).
M1941 Johnson Rifle
Japanese elite sniper Colonel Masaya (Mingxiang Guo) uses an M1941 Johnson rifle. It is the same rifle used in Assembly.
Submachine Guns
Sten Mk II (modified to resemble SIG M1920)
Japanese soldiers are seen using Sten submachine guns visually modified to resemble SIG M1920 submachine guns. Same props can be seen in The Flowers of War.
Others
Type 97 Hand Grenade
Both sides of the conflict use Japanese Type 97 hand grenades.
