The first season is created by Robert Kirkman and Frank Darabont and starts the story of the survival of former sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes and his group. After being injured on one of the calls, Rick falls into a coma, and when he wakes up, he is horrified to realize that the world has fallen after a terrible pandemic. Now he must adapt to the new environment and find his family. The season consists of six episodes and was premiered on October 31, 2010 on AMC.

The following weapons were used in Season 1 of the television series The Walking Dead:

Revolvers

Colt Python

Former King County Sheriff deputy Richard Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) uses a six-inch barreled Colt Python as his primary weapon during the season. In a flashback at the beginning of "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), it is revealed that the Python was actually his service weapon before the apocalypse. Rick gets the weapon back by cleaning out the police station armory and uses it to fight off a horde of walkers in Atlanta. He continues to carry the gun in a holster in "Guts" (S1E02). Rick reloads the Python with rounds given by Shane before returning to Atlanta in "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03). Rick holds his Colt Python on Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) in "Vatos" (S1E04).

In the series premiere "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), a flashback shows Rick wielding his Python.
Rick put his Python to the head of zombified deputy Leon Basset (Linds Edwards).
Finding himself under the tank, trapped on all sides by walkers, Rick briefly attempts to kill himself, but notices a hatch in the bottom of the tank.
At the end of the episode he puts the gun to the head of the undead soldier. When Grimes fires the gun in a very tight, enclosed space (in this case, inside a tank), it actually severely disorients him and hurts his hearing, unlike most movies or shows that have people firing guns indoors or in other enclosed spaces without being fazed. The undead soldier is portrayed by actor Sam Witwer (whose story would have been told in Frank Darabont's original script for the Season 2 premiere).
Rick reloads the revolver at the end of "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03).
Rick holds the Python on Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) in "Vatos" (S1E04).

Smith & Wesson Model 10

In "Vatos" (S1E04), a snub nose Smith & Wesson Model 10 or two can be seen in the hands of the Vatos during the standoff in Atlanta, specifically Felipe (Noel Gugliemi).

Smith & Wesson Model 15

In "Vatos" (S1E04), what appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model 15 is seen in the hands of one of Guillermo's right hand men, Jorge (James Gonzaba) during the standoff.

Taurus Model 85

Morgan Jones (Lennie James), the first living person Rick meets after his coma, is armed with a nickel Taurus Model 85 throughout "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01). He first points the revolver at Rick, mistaking his wound for a bite, and then pulls it out at the end of the episode when the walker approaches him outside the police station.

Pistols

Beretta 92FS

Hiding in an abandoned tank from a horde of walkers at the end of the series premiere "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), Rick (Andrew Lincoln) takes a Beretta 92FS (standing in for a U.S. Military-issue M9) from the holster of a dead soldier (Sam Witwer). After checking the magazine at the beginning of "Guts" (S1E02), Rick tells Glenn over the radio that he has "one clip, 15 rounds" and fires at the walkers after getting out of the tank. Once in a safe place he puts the empty pistol in Glenn's backpack.

He shoots the walkers in the alley, following Glenn.

Browning Hi-Power Silver Chrome

Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) carries a Browning Hi-Power Silver Chrome tucked in his pants and threatens T-Dog with it in "Guts" (S1E02). After disarming him, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) takes the gun and uses it in an attempt to steal a truck for the group. Browning is also briefly seen tucked into Rick's pants at the beginning of "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03).

Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) snatches the Browning and points it at lying T-Dog in "Guts" (S1E02).
He also aims the gun at fellow survivors during the conflict on the rooftop.
After taking possession of the pistol, Rick puts the gun to Dixon's head.
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) aims the Hi-Power at the walkers in the mall as they burst through the first door.
The tucked pistol is also briefly seen at the beginning of "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03).

Colt M1911A1

In the flashback seen at the beginning of the series premiere "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), a third criminal (Brent Bernhard), unmentioned by the dispatcher, climbs out of an overturned car and fires a Colt M1911A1 at Rick, badly wounding him. Another pistol is also seen in the police armory later in the episode.

Another pistol is also seen in the police armory later in the episode.

CZ 75 "Pre-B"

Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is seen with a CZ 75 "Pre-B" during the standoff in "Vatos" (S1E04). The handgun in the front of his waistband is definitely not the Glock he loaded earlier on which is in the back of his waistband at the small of his back. Unlike the Glock, this pistol also has an external hammer. It seems to also have a different rear sight than the SIG featured in the earlier loading scene.

On the left, the pistol can be seen in Daryl's waistband in "Vatos" (S1E04). Right here is much more clear that it's a "Pre-B" CZ 75 due to the clear design.

Glock 17

A Glock 17 appears to be the primary service sidearm of King County Sheriff deputies, including Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal), Leon Basset (Linds Edwards) and Lambert Kendal (Jim R. Coleman), involved in the interception of the criminals' car in the flashback at the beginning of "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01). Several Linden County Sheriff deputies also use handguns in the shootout. Shane continues to carry the gun in a holster in "Guts" (S1E02) and "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03).A Glock 17 is also taken by Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) from Rick's gun bag to confront the Vatos in in "Vatos" (S1E04), however it changes into a CZ-75 during the confrontation. Shane is seen carrying his duty sidearm Glock 17 at the end of "Vatos" (S1E04).

Deputy Leon Basset (Linds Edwards) told by Grimes to have a round chambered (which, when he does check, we can see the gun is actually empty) and to make sure the safety was off. In reality, the Glock has no external safety switch and Leon indexes his thumb on the slide release.
Shane keeps the Glock 17 holstered on his belt in "Vatos" (S1E04).
Daryl loads up a Glock 17 in "Vatos" (S1E04).

SIG-Sauer P226

In "Vatos" (S1E04), Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) handles a black SIG-Sauer P226 as he, Daryl, and T-Dog load up from the bag of guns as they prepare to confront the Vatos. It appears he may even have it tucked in the back of his belt during the confrontation later at the small of his back in addition to the Colt Python in his holster.

Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith"

In "Guts" (S1E02) Andrea Harrison (Laurie Holden) points a Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith" at Rick angry about attracting walkers. However, she puts the gun down and later temporarily gives it to Rick (Andrew Lincoln), who explains how to take the safety off. She later in the episode hands the pistol to Glenn (Steven Yeun) for his own protection when he and Rick make their way to the escape van,but he's not using it.

Rifles

Browning Automatic Rifle Safari

A scoped Browning Automatic Rifle Safari is one of the rifles retrieved in Rick's bag of guns. In "Vatos" (S1E04), the rifle is briefly seen being used by T-Dog (IronE Singleton) during the standoff with the gangsters in Atlanta.

Remington 700 BDL

Sneaking into the police station near the end of "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), Rick (Andrew Lincoln) checks the scope of a Remington 700 BDL and offers it to Morgan (Lennie James). Morgan later uses it to shoot walkers in the neighborhood.

Remington 700 VLS

Dale Horvath (Jeffrey DeMunn) carries a scopped Remington 700 VLS (Varmint Laminated Stock) since "Guts" (S1E02) slung over his back as he keeps watch over camp. Besides Dale, the rifle appears in the hands of Ed Peletier (Adam Minarovich) and another unnamed survivor at the lookout position in "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03).

Ruger 10/22

The Ruger 10/22 carbine is seen on the rack in the police station's armory in "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), however it is not taken possibly because there was no ammunition or magazines left for the rifle.

Winchester Model 70

Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) fires a scoped Winchester Model 70 atop a building at walkers in "Guts" (S1E02), drawing the attention of more until Rick (Andrew Lincoln) snatches it away. Morales (Juan Gabriel Pareja) also later holds the rifle during the Atlanta escape. An unscoped Winchester also appears to be held by one of the Vatos in "Vatos" (S1E04). Dale fires a scoped Winchester Model 70 at the walkers during the camp attack and carries it to the CDC. The rifle is only seen for a brief few seconds when Rick and the others are allowed into their compound.

TRIVIA: When Michael Rooker was filming the rooftop scene in Atlanta during production, surrounding people below in the streets called the police because they believed he was a genuine crazed gunman with a sniper rifle shooting off the roof of a building. Shotguns

Harrington & Richardson Pardner Pump Compact

For the remainder of "Vatos" (S1E04), Rick (Andrew Lincoln) appears to be using a Harrington & Richardson Pardner Pump Compact with a wood stock to replace the Mossberg he gave to Guillermo. He fires it at walkers in the camp during the attack.

Mossberg 500

Several Linden County Sheriff deputies chasing a car of criminals are armed with Mossberg 500 Persuader shotguns with extended magtube in the flashback at the beginning of "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01). Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) has two Mossberg shotguns stashed in his bag of guns he acquired from the police station before he dropped it in the series premiere. Rick can be first seen using one of the Mossberg 500s in "Vatos" (S1E04) where he wields this shotgun in the standoff with the Vatos gang and ends up giving it to their leader, Guillermo (Neil Brown Jr.) after the Vatos turn out to be doing a good thing.

Remington 870 Wingmaster

Rick takes several Remington 870 Wingmasters from the police station in "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01). While driving past a farm Rick notices a dead family killing themselves with the shotgun. In "Vatos" (S1E04), a Remington 870 Wingmaster ends up with Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) during the "switch" with the Vatos.

Rick (Andrew Lincoln) checks a Remington 870 Police Magnum at the police station in "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01) before putting it in the bag with the other weapons. In "Vatos" (S1E04), T-Dog (IronE Singleton) takes a Remington 870 Police Magnum with a synthetic stock from Rick's bag of guns and uses it during the standoff as well as during the walker's siege on the survivor camp.

Machine Guns

Browning M2HB

Several mockups of Browning M2HB machine guns appear first on Bell UH-1 "Huey" helicopter near the Harrison Memorial Hospital at the beginning of "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), and at the end of the episode two more are seen mounted atop a British Chieftain tank (presumably standing in for an M1 Abrams) and a sandbag barricade on a street in Atlanta. The same machine gun is also briefly seen in "Guts" (S1E02).

Other

M67 Hand Grenade (M69 Training version)

Rick (Andrew Lincoln) finds an M67 Hand Grenade next to a dead soldier in a tank at the beginning of "Guts" (S1E02) and takes it with him when he escapes. In reality, the grenade is actually an M69, the inert training version of the live M67 grenade, noted in some shots with a bit of the blue paint showing through the over painted OD green color.

M67 Fragmentation Grenade

Horton Scout HD 125

A Horton Scout HD 125 crossbow appears as Daryl Dixon's (Norman Reedus) primary weapon in the season starting in "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03). He first hunts a deer with it, and then uses it during the Atlanta outing in "Vatos" (S1E04).

Rick's Bag of Guns

Back at his police station in "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01) Rick packs all available weapons into a bag and takes it with him to Atlanta, where he loses it to a horde of walkers. For the majority of the time in the premiere episode, the shotguns sticking out of the bag appear to be foam props. Later in the season, the bag ends up in the hands and used by fellow survivors in the group or himself, or given away. At least until "Vatos" (S1E04), the contents of the bag included six shotguns, two high-powered rifles, a dozen handguns, and seven hundred rounds of ammunition, assorted. So far the current count from the bag is Harrington & Richardson Pardner Pump Compact, Harrington & Richardson Pardner Pump Protector, two Mossberg 500s with high-capacity magazine tube, Remington 870 Wingmaster, Remington 870, Browning Automatic Rifle Safari, Glock 17 (possibly more than one), SIG-Sauer P226, Smith & Wesson Model 10 snub-nose and a Smith & Wesson Model 586. In reality, that many guns in one bag would make it much too heavy to simply carry slung over the shoulder.

The Remington's forend is seen in the bag as Rick approaches Atlanta in "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01). Judging by the amount of firearms seen, his pack in reality should weigh around 70 pounds.
The filled-in barrels can be seen, proving they are lightweight props.

Rick opens the bag in "Vatos" (S1E04). A Remington 870 Wingmaster, Mossberg 500, Harrington & Richardson Pump Protector and a Harrington & Richardson Pump Pardener can be seen.

"M1A1 Abrams"

In the series premiere "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), Rick is seen having to take refuge in what is probably supposed to be an M1A1 Abrams tank. The tank in the episode is actually a British Chieftain with a modified turret to resemble the M1A1.

The M1A1 Abrams mockup in the series premiere "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01). As seems common for Chieftains standing in for other tanks, the thermal sleeve has been removed from the L11A5 L/55 120mm rifled cannon. This appears to be a Mark 11 tank, mounting the "Stillbrew" bolt-on armor package for the driver's position and turret, and minus the .50 cal coaxial ranging machine gun and the large infrared searchlight box on the left hand side of the turret.
Rick passes the tank. The fake M2HB is visible on the hatch, with a real M2HB in the foreground.
