About
Polish defense manufacturing company Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów (Tarnów Mechanical Works) was founded as a train repair workshop. The factory was rebuilt after WW2 and in 1951 it started manufacturing firearms. The factory produced the license-built automatic cannons (37mm Nudelman N-37, 57mm S-60, 23mm ZU-23, 25mm 2M-3M) and heavy machine guns (DShK, NSV, and KPV). After 1989, the factory switched entirely to Polish-designed weapons.
