I'm Anna, 34, originally from AZ, work in UT. I've worked in law enforcement since June 2013, first in OH and now in UT. I'm not someone who watches a lot of TV or movies nowadays but I do occasionally and I'd like hopefully contribute in some way if there's ever anything I personally notice or can help identify.

Personal firearms experience

Issued sidearms

Glock 23 Gen4: 2013 to 2016
Springfield Armory 1911 Professional: 2016 to 2021

Personally owned

Glock 27 Gen4: Pretty much limited to nightstand duty nowadays.
SIG-Sauer P239 DAO: Got it cheap as a LE trade-in, at least cheap by SIG standards anyway.
Walther PPK: Owned it briefly between 2010 and 2016, ended up giving it to a friend (who's a big Walther aficionado) as a retirement gift.

Information

I ended up buying a Gen4 Glock 27 because I wanted a somewhat practical off duty handgun that was the same caliber Glock 23. It was never really the most practical size to carry comfortably so I ended up getting a good deal on a SIG P239 in DAO that was a law enforcement trade-in, after that the G27 has mostly just been used for home defense type duties. I've carried the P239 off duty since 2014 or so, there's definitely a lot better CCW/off duty type handguns available nowadays, the Glock 43/X and the M&P Shield come to mind, not to mention the Kahr PM9 but I've always been a SIG fan.

I was fortunate enough to just join in time to see a few P228's still in service with more 'seasoned' guys and gals and admittedly it's a bit like my unicorn, similar to how the Smith & Wesson 1076 was for people who joined a decade or so before me; a few still kicking around but uncommon enough to be unique. I'd consider myself a SIG fan, despite only having owned my P239 personally. However unlike a lot of SIG fans, I actually like SIG's DAO trigger and to a lesser extent the DAK, never liked DA/SA personally, so while I'm a SIG fan it's safe to say I'm a 'weird' one.

Other handguns

Here's a list of handguns I've had a chance to try out, mostly a mix of coworkers sidearms, sidearms carried by people from other agencies and personally owned ones. Please bear in mind my experience with these is very limited, some to less than 10 rounds so not enough time to get a proper opinion of them.

Glock 22: Issued to several coworkers in both third generation and Gen4, it's a Glock so not much to say about it.
Glock 22: The RTF2 variant, belonged to a DUSM I knew. I just tried it out because it was interesting and because the owner had an early-ish optic on it but I don't recall the model of it. Better ergonomics than the Third gen in my opinion.
SIG-Sauer P229 DAK: The railed but not E2 version for those curious, carried by a friend from another agency. Probably my favorite of all the handguns I've tried so far.
SIG-Sauer P228: Technically an M11, not a DA/SA fan but definitely a fan of the P228/M11 in general.
SIG-Sauer P226 DAO: The NYPD version, interestingly due to my actually liking DAO SIG's I found the NYPD's P226 to be just fine for me. Keep in mind I'm used to a SIG DAO trigger so it's similar to what I'm familiar with, other coworkers darn near hated it due to the heavy trigger.
Glock 19: Second generation with the NY-2 trigger, lets just say not a fan. While I'm okay with heavy DAO triggers for SIG, not a fan of heavy triggers on Glock.
Glock 17M/19M: For all intents and purposes a Gen 5 17 and 19, I skipped over the 19M due to being issued the SA 1911 at the time but I do prefer the M and Gen 5 Glocks to the Gen4 and previous iterations.
Glock 21: Third generation, I prefer 1911's for my .45's but the 21 was perfectly fine.
H&K P2000: With the CDA (LEM) trigger, not the best ergonomics for me personally but the trigger was surprisingly nice, despite what I thought before trying it.

Handguns I'd like to try

Smith & Wesson 5946: To complete the original NYPD trifecta.
Smith & Wesson 1076: It's iconic, love to try one in person.
Smith & Wesson 4506: Handled one but never got to try it.
Beretta 92FS/M9: Again got to handle one but sadly never got to try it.
SIG-Sauer P229 E2: Just to try out the E2 ergonomics.
Glock 20: Always admired 10mm Auto even if I've never got to try it so far.
Glock 37: I was always randomly curious what .45 GAP was like.
Colt M1911A1: Love to try an original unmodified 1911, especially a Gold Cup National Match or similar.

Rifles

M4A1/M4 Carbine: Too many variations over the years to list
CQBR: Limited use for specialist operators like medics
H&K MP5: Not really in service anymore by the time I was but I tried the A3 variant at the range a few times
H&K MP5/40: No longer in service and somewhat relic status by the time I got to try it briefly, but it was admittedly nice
Remington Model 700: Various setups in either .300 Win Mag or 7mm RM
Steyr SSG 04: .300 Win Mag
Winchester Model 70: .458 Winchester Magnum, it was owned by a friend and I only tried it because in that caliber it was ridiculously over the top and I figured it may be my only chance to try one

Shotguns

Remington Model 870: Primarily the Police Magnum variant, both with and without extended magazine tubes and Surefire grip/lights
Benelli M3 Super 90: Limited use, but tried it a few times
Benelli M4: More widespread use during my time

Rifles and shotguns I'd like to try

Colt Model 733: They're iconic and I'd love to try one
Colt Model 635: The legendary Colt 9mm SMG, saw one a few times but sadly never got to try it
Mossberg 590: Only ever got to try the Remington and Benelli's so like to try out the Mossberg too

Favorite media

TV series

The Shield: Not overly realistic but entertaining. The characters and their motivations are believable in that there were and are people like that who exist, but the situations and outcomes that lead to required some suspension of disbelief
Criminal Minds: More realistic aside from some glaring issues, very entertaining though aside from some soap opera-ish trends that came in later on
Longmire: Pretty much my idea of a perfect series part realistic and part entertainment, and a modern western feel
Justified: Probably my favorite series of all time. While it may be a controversial statement, Raylan Givens is probably one of the coolest and most badass characters ever
Numb3rs: Law enforcement wise so-so in terms of realism, but very entertaining and the math stuff was a fun addition that is a bit different from the usual elements you expect to see
Manhunters: Fugitive Task Force: I knew one of the task force members from the series, albeit I met him years later
Star Trek: All the way from TOS to Enterprise, yes I actually liked Enterprise, I haven't seen the latest series but I've heard a lot of good things

Movies

Street Kings: Gritty, some level of realism, entertaining, has Keanu Reeves, can't get much better than that
Training Day: Probably my favorite movie of it's type. Very entertaining, possibly would have more realistic if it'd been set a decade or so before it was made but still a lot more than some. A surprisingly good mix of believability and entertainment
Bone Tomahawk: I never knew I needed a horror/cannibal western in my life before I saw it. Amazingly well done for the subject matter and unlike many horror movies actually had likable and believable characters who's motivations made sense
A Nightmare on Elm Street: Not much to say, it's a Wes Craven classic
The Return of the Living Dead: The perfect mix of horror and comedy in my opinion
The Hills Have Eyes: The 1977 classic, another Wes Craven classic. Even the remake was surprisingly good as far as remakes go
Dawn of the Dead: Both the remake and original, the original Dawn of the Dead is my favorite zombie movie of all time and is as classic as it gets. And I'd personally say the remake is the best done remake I've seen, definitely worthy of carrying the name
The Silence of the Lambs: A realistic depiction of early behavioral sciences, some questionable behavior from people who should know better but overall very well done. The basement 'showdown' scene for example is surprisingly suspenseful, probably the most uneasy I felt watching a movie like that
Shaun of the Dead: Always makes me laugh no matter how often I watch it
